AOL: Mail, News, Weather & Video 3.2.1.1
It's a nice and complex app that incorporates two main services, it delivers the latest news in the form of articles and videos, while also providing users with access to their AOL email account and more.
Sleek interface with all features at hand
The app launches directly with a tutorial, showing new users how to operate inside the app and access all of its features. There's a toolbar on the bottom of the screen, you can use it to access all sections inside like your emails, news articles, videos and the search bar to find various stories. The app opens with the latest articles, it doesn't need online registration for checking out the news or watching videos.
You can however switch editions and select either the United States, United Kingdom or Canada. Users may also enable notifications and have the app make your phone sound or vibrate whenever you receive a new email or breaking news are added.
Check the latest news and watch videos
The side menu gives you access to all sort of articles divided by category, like entertainment, autos, finance, technology and more. Swipe down to get more stories or to the left to read the next one in the feed. You can also enlarge text easily or share articles with friends on social networks.
The app also lets you open stories in your browser or check out related articles and reports. It also displays the time and date, and it provides you with weather conditions in your location. You can even check the weather for upcoming days right inside the app.
Check your emails
The search bar on the bottom of the screen lets you find articles fast and the app even gives you access to your AOL email account. Still, if you don't have one it takes only a couple of minutes to create it inside the app.
You also have a side menu on the left, but this one provides you with access to the inbox, to drafts, sent and deleted emails. Tap on one email and swipe left to get more options like marking it, moving it to a folder or flagging. In addition, you can create emails easily and attach all sort of files, including documents, pictures and videos.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8
The interface is fresh but simplistic, the app doesn't offer many customization options. |
Function8
It's got a little bit of both, you can't sort emails or save articles for offline reading which is quite inconvenient. |
Security7
It needs some permissions to areas that really aren't connected to its features, like your list of contacts. |
Battery6
Consumption seems to be a bit high, keep an eye on resources especially if you intend to watch videos inside the app. |
Price9
It's free but filled with all sort of ads to AOL. |
Compatibility7
If you decided to check out the app, then you'll need a device running Android 4.1 or later. |
It's got a little bit of everything, but lacks some essential features.
