Microsoft Outlook 1.3.9

Manage your emails in one place using the official Microsoft app
Many people check their email a few times a day and it's important view them in a clean interface that not clogged with too many features and icons on the desktop.

Google Play Store offers quite a few options for that and with the launch of Inbox by Google, it seems that major developers wish to create their own email service. Outlook by Microsoft is one of such apps with plenty to offer but still needing some more work.

Clean and fresh interface with quick access to all features

Since users are switching from stock interfaces of their email providers it's only normal that they'd want their new app to have a clean and fresh interface that isn't clogged at all and doesn't have too many icons that would confuse users.

Microsoft Outlook Preview has a nice and fresh UI but not option of changing the theme or colors on it. Still, it comes with a tutorial showing users what they can do inside the app and a side menu gives you access to all of your logged in accounts and subsequently to all of your emails, arranged into sections like inbox, spam, sent messages, etc. You can also browse mail as individual messages instead of conversations.

Log in to multiple accounts and manage your emails

Microsoft Outlook Preview lets you log into multiple email accounts so you wouldn't have to use more than on app to check emails. It supports Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, Outlook.com (including Hotmail, MSN), Gmail, Yahoo Mail, and iCloud.

Simply shift through accounts by using the side menu and read messages with a simple tap on the screen. The app also uses gestures for managing emails. Swipe emails right to schedule them to reappear in a few hours or days, so you can read them later.

You can also archive emails into folders or move them to the trash section. The app also syncs your address books, as well as show the contacts that are on your phone and lets you call or email your contacts with a single tap.

Read important emails

Microsoft Outlook Preview also has a built-in feature that sorts your emails based on the ones that are truly important and spam. The focused section is filled with all of your important messages while the others are stored under the other section.

Moreover, the app gives you access to your calendar and lets you create events or attach files from Google Drive, Dropbox or from any sent or received emails. It also has a download notification, for when files have completed.

You can also connect with Box and other cloud services. It comes with a search bar so you can find messages fast, but it does have some shortcomings. It needs more work in the settings section as it may cause the app to crash and the app has some other functionality bugs.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8

The interface is clean and fresh, but it lacks design marks that would make it stand out from other applications from the market.

Function7

It definitely faces some functionality bugs and the UI crashes when accessing certain sections.

Security9

It shouldn't pose any privacy issues considering that it's an official app, but it doesn't let users secure their accounts with a pin or password.

Battery6

Consumption is a bit high for such an app so keep an eye on resources when using it.

Price10

It's completely free of charge, no ads or in-app purchases which is its main advantage.

Compatibility8

It should work on devices running Android version 4.0 or later, making it accessible to many users.

Editor's Review
VERY GOOD

It's a nice try from Microsoft but they need to put in more work in this app.
