Dictionary 1.2.1.0
Resorting to the dictionary is the logical course of action, but in case you find yourself in such a situation and are not at home, things might be more complicated.
Dictionary is one of the utilities that were created to serve such purposes and help you by providing a very good resource of knowledge insofar the words and expressions (including those in other languages) are concerned.
Decent looking and functional front-end
The application appears before your eyes in a nice manner, with some visuals that befit the purpose of the utility. The information is very well organized and presented in a neatly structured manner throughout the app.
All the sections of the utility are at hand and easy to reach form the main screen, as each has its own corresponding tile that contains not only the section title, but also the main subject of interest inside.
If there are no ads in sight, do not thing you are out of the woods just yet, because after using the app a couple of times you will start to receive prompt for rating Dictionary when it is launched. These reminders can be deactivated and dismissed for good with one tap, though.
Smart search and translations at your fingertips
As simple as it may seem at first glance, this app has a few aces up its sleeve, the first and most important being the instant search that allows you to reach the word you are looking for even before you are done typing it entirely, as it searches as you type and makes appropriate suggestions.
Scrolling down in the list of results you will be able to view the Thesaurus entries for the keyword(s) you looked for and there are some relevant pics, easy to access antonyms, synonyms and many more.
Going even further down, you will come across the translation module that enables you to choose one of the over 40 languages you want to render the word(s) into. The pronunciations of all the elements of the query are at hand as well.
Learn interesting words and facts each day
There are several supplementary sections you might enjoy visiting because they contain soe really interesting info and these are "Word of the Day", "The Quote of the Day", "The Article of the Day", "This Day in History", "Today's Birthday" and "In the News".
Setting Dictionary as the lock screen provider and choosing it as the app that shows quick status in that area will bring some of the bits of knowledge right onto your phone's locked screen. Also, the Start screen tile is informative in its turn, by displaying the word of the day.
If you provide your birthday in the "Settings" area of the application, you will receive inside the "More" the daily horoscope. The weather info that should appear in the same module is not available unfortunately, due to a glitch that doesn't save the location you input.
