iStock by Getty Images 1.6.1
The company also offers this cool app called iStock by Getty Images that allows you to find awesome imagery in various categories, right on your iDevice. The screenshots are enough to tell you that it’s a must have for any creative mind, but let’s look at some of its features together.
Made with love for visuals
With a brilliant team of imaging experts to maintain its business, Getty Images doesn’t fool around. iStock looks amazingly polished and clean and offers pleasant navigation through things like menus, settings, tags, preview tiles, etc.
The fonts and the colors throughout the app are very easy on the eyes and a joy to look at, and the settings panel uses iOS 7-like toggles for various tweaks and options.
There's a photo for any mood, project, taste
iStock launches to a screen of tiles with categories for things like Beauty & Health, Concepts, Emotion, Food, Children, Animals, etc.
In case you’re wondering what iStock is good for - with all those watermarks splashed right smack in the middle of each picture - you use it to browse and buy pro-level images that best express a particular feeling.
Whether you need it for school, your blog, or a neat presentation to awe your boss, the image to best convey a particular message is there in iStock, guaranteed. But we’re not here to talk about the costs or the whole procedure of getting there. We’re here to discuss the app for now.
iStock lets you create Lightboxes where you can store photos as you browse. This way you can save the stuff you like and keep it there for future reference, or share the images with others.
To get the best search results tailored to your needs, an account can be created using a simple email address which is also your user name. The process is extremely simple and straightforward, and iStock doesn’t nag you about the benefits of having an account.
Speaking of nags, there are none whatsoever in iStock. No ads, no additional features to buy with micro-transactions, and no alerts or notifications. Hats off to that, Getty.

Bottom Line
Design / UI9
Impressive design, a clean layout, iOS 7-inspired menus and an overall joy to look at. |
Function9
The only thing iStock misses is a few watermark-free offerings. |
Security8
Aside from the account-creation and the traditional terms & agreements that you need to accept, iStock is free of any hooks to your personal life. |
Battery8
Keeps running for hours without impacting the battery more than necessary. Sometimes it will demand more CPU/GPU power, but nothing out of the ordinary. |
Price9
Since it offers what it promises, you can’t really demand more, although it would be nice to be able to remove that watermark for some of the images. |
Compatibility10
Getty is committed to supporting iOS 8. No messing about with older firmwares. Some may not appreciate this much, but hey you’ve got to have priorities. |
