Snapguide 1.8.4
Brilliant how-tos
The heart and soul of Snapguide is the massive collection of how-tos that you can browse through. Unfortunately you have to subscribe before you start using it, but luckily there’s the ever-handy option to just log in with Facebook and proceed to browse the content.
Once you’re in you’ll be asked to choose your preferred topics, such as music, arts & crafts, desserts, beauty, technology, etc. You handpick those and the app then serves up how-tos from those particular fields. So, for instance, if you left out drinks and style, you won’t be bothered with those kinds of guides.
The tutorials themselves are a joy to read and / or watch. All of them are accompanied by photos and the steps are offered one at a time, not multiple steps on one page. Some guides have videos attached to them.
Trends, updates, social side
The app has a social side, in that subscribers can follow one another’s tutorials, hit a like button, comment, etc. It’s a lot like other social networks, so you’ll feel right at home in Snapguide.
You can use it purely for informative purposes as well. Just access the search tab at the bottom and see what’s popular (trending) and what was added recently.
Make your own
Finally, Snapguide can also be used to publish your own guide on the network and have others learn from you. Just hit the plus button at the bottom, give it a title, add a list of supplies (i.e. wood block, scissors, plastic cup, glue, duck tape, etc.), then start adding your steps, complete with text and imagery. It’s really quite awesome!
Updated for iOS 8
Snapguide now imports images and videos from iCloud and other apps, offers interactive push notifications, adds accessibility improvements and bug fixes. Additional sharing options have been added as well. This includes sharing to Apple Messages, AirDrop, Facebook Messenger, Reading Lists and more.
