Planning a trip can be hard work and it can take a lot of time to get everything in order. While deciding on the location you want to travel to can be quite easy and putting together a list of things you want to see while you’re there can be quite easy, setting up a flight and picking a hotel can be a little bit more difficult.

Hipmunk Travel is an app that will help you with these two problems. There’s a really cute (and hip) chipmunk to help you with the searches and he’ll even do a little flying motion while you’re looking for your plane out of town.

The app has a pretty simple interface and it’s all straightforward. You can either search for flights or hotels.

Book a flight

When looking for flights, you can check for one-way trips, roundtrips or multi-city trips. You’ll have to set down the departure and arrival cities, as well as the day you want to travel on and when you want to return home, as well as the number of people you’re looking to book a flight for. Furthermore, you can decide if you’re flying coach, business or first class.

The results can be sorted by price, departure time and duration of the flight, but also by “Agony.” This is something the folks over at Hipmunk name their sorting system that helps you find flights with the lowest prices, shortest duration and least amount of stops. Basically, the best option of them all.

Find the perfect hotel

When looking for hotels, things are pretty similar. You’ll have to pick a location where you want to look for accommodations. If you allowed the app access to your location, you can even pick the current city from the list.

The app will provide a full list of hotels it has access to. These, too, can be sorted by price, user reviews and how many stars they have, or by “Ecstasy.” This is yet another unique sorting system that helps find the lowest prices, highest ratings and best reviews, which is obviously quite handy.

The hotels can be further filtered down by the number of stars they have, by price range and type of accommodation offered.

All in all, this is a pretty handy app that can help you solve two important issues of your incoming trip straight from your phone, without having to worry too much about making endless calls and so on.
