Airbnb 9.0
Much in line with iOS
Travel apps are usually cluttered with information and badly optimized UIs (or not optimized at all for mobile use). Not Airbnb. Someone there paid close attention to Apple’s design direction with iOS and replicated it throughout the app. More than that, they came up with an original scrolling-based method of discovering the app’s various functions in a gradual manner. The imagery alone is breathtaking.
iOS 8 users will also get information about their Airbnb schedule straight into the Today screen in the notifications area on iOS 8.
Awesome trip planner and booking tool
Want to live in a bus with five of your best friends for a week? No problem, there’s someone offering just that through the Airbnb network. Want to spend a weekend in a tree house, or book an apartment by the beach? Airbnb again.
The possibilities are endless. You can discover thousands of places to stay in more than 34,000 cities, check out details about the amenities, see the host’s face (they actually make you put your face in there so that people know who they’re talking to), book one-of-a-kind accommodations like tree houses and such, find long-term sublets, access your itinerary, message your host, get directions to your listing, add legendary buildings to your wish list for visiting, the works!
You can use PayPal to book your next trip directly from the app, which is mighty convenient and it means your payment goes through one of the best processors out there.
Hosts who sign up to make a bug through Airbnb can manage their listing and connect with their soon-to-be guests, list their space and manage their listing directly from the iPhone or iPad, etc. There are also the reviews that you can check out and see if a place is any good or not.Hosts can also quickly access their calendar from the main menu and list or unlist their places from the Manage Listing screen.Hosts can also better manage incoming reservation requests better, thanks for an update to the calendar settings.
The listing photos has been improved in the past few months, which makes for a rather interesting place to search for places to crash while travelling. The reviewing system for guests and hosts has been greatly improved, making it easier for everyone to give a truthful recount of their experience.
The app allows you to view similar listings directly from every listing page, which makes it easier than ever to find the perfect space that you want to stay at, while also saving you plenty of time.
Since giving a heads-up is particularly important in the Airbnb community, it’s also possible to cancel a reservation while on the go, straight from the app. The My Trips section makes it possible to trace your stays around the world, helping you pin your presence around the globe.
The social login feature within the Airbnb app is pretty strong, as the app allows you log in with a series of networks, including Weibo, Facebook and Google, out of which the last two are pretty common nowadays.
