Flipboard 3.0.2
Stories delivered in a readable manner
That’s right, if you haven’t heard about Flipboard or just haven’t had the chance to try it yet, you should really pay this app a visit. It looks awesome and it delivers your favorite news stories in the most readable way possible, without cluttering your screen. Its tile-based UI lets you quickly choose the subjects you’re interested in, while the entire navigation process consists of nothing but swipes up and down.
Connect instantly
Flipboard lets you connect with Facebook or create an account on the spot. Its fast and painless, and you can integrate multiple other services with the news app to never miss a beat. For example, you can integrate Twitter and share stuff you stumble upon with just one tap.
Picking your favorite categories is easy, and pinning articles for later reading is also a one-tap affair. When you rack up enough stories, photos, videos, and social network updates, you’ll end up with your very own magazine in Flipboard.
You can collect articles and your own photos into magazines without even having to open the app. All you have to do is tap the share icon in Safari, Photos, or other compatible apps and select Flipboard. iOS 8 users will certainly enjoy this particular tidbit given the new sharing system. If you don’t have any magazines yet, all you have to do is create one in Flipboard by tapping the “+” icon on any article, image or video.
The Daily Edition is a relatively new morning news magazine that brings the most recent articles selected by Flipboard’s team.
Photos display nice and big (and zoomable without pixelation), and the same goes for videos. It’s a lot like an RSS app, but without the hassle of finding the RSS link or managing entire lists of sources. You just make a few taps and all your favorite blogs and sites magically get added to Flipboard.
Security
It’s easy to accidentally tap on the social buttons and sometimes share something without intention. But it’s really more of an annoyance than anything else. However, Flipboard is integrated not only with Twitter, but also Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr and Google+ (if you let it), and therefore users will need to be careful with what they’re sharing and with whom.

Bottom Line
Design / UI9
Regardless of how you like to read your news, you’ll definitely find a reason to keep Flipboard on your iPhone’s home screen. It displays imagery like no other RSS app, and its social ties make it more colorful than any news app in the iTunes App Store. |
Function9
The flip-up navigation system is a breath of fresh air in a sea of side-scrolling news apps. However, we wouldn’t mind being allowed to scroll during reading. |
Security8
Users will need to be careful what they’re sharing and with whom. |
Battery7
Normal consumption levels. Only drains more juice when sharing to social networks and / or watching videos. |
Price10
Fully free with no ads. |
Compatibility8
The app supports iOS 7 and up and is compatible with iOS 8 |
One of the best news readers in the App Store
