Sleipnir Mobile 4.1.2

Try out Sleipnir Mobile as an alternative to your regular browser
We all use our smartphones for a wide range of things, varying from actually making phonecalls, to texting friends and family and colleagues, to playing games and browsing the Internet. All smartphones, iPhones included, come with their own browsers installed but they’re not always the best choice since they’re not the safest or the best option out there.

In such occasions, installing a browser or two to try out can be a good idea. While the big names like Safari, Chrome and Firefox are pretty obvious choices, there are other tools out there.

Sleipnir Mobile is a browser that comes with some pretty cool features that you’re almost sure to love.

Visible tabs

Unlike with other web browsers, this one keeps the tabs visible at all times, arranged in a cute ribbon at the bottom of the screen. While this certainly takes something out of the experience since you lose a chunk of the screen, it’s actually not that bad once you get used to it. Instead, you start to see the benefits of this particular strategy.

On one hand, you always have access to the tabs, which makes jumping from one to the next very easy. Double tapping on any of the tabs will add a layer of protection to them so you don’t close them off by mistake. This is done by swiping your finger downwards over a tab, which will make a red arrow appear, indicating that indeed you are about to close the page.

To help those of you who like staying organized, the browser named after the mythical Norse eight-legged horse, there are groups that you can put the tabs in. All you have to do is drag and drop the tab to one of the groups that expands on the screen. You can have six of these.

The app’s settings area allows you to control your account, to enable quick bookmarks and to control various aspects of the tabs, such as the tab group height, and whether or not to open bookmarks and search results into new tabs.

Gesture support

Sleipnir supports a few gestures that you can use to go back and forth between pages, close all tabs, reload one or all pages, restore closed tabs and perform web searches. From the settings area you can enable and disable these gestures if you don’t want to use them.

The Sleipnir browser comes with an extra feature that blocks ads on web pages so you don’t get annoyed by them.

All in all, Sleipnir is a pretty cool browser that brings some nice features to the table. If you’re looking for a browser that doesn’t come from one major corporation or another, then this is a great choice.
