A tool targeted at business types who travel a lot, Expensify is geared towards salespeople, and companies of all sizes.
Quite friendly for a business app
Finance / business software normally doesn’t look too good. You either get something that looks like a big Excel spreadsheet, or a tool that’s made up of boring forms that you have to fill out, squinting all the way. Not Expensify.
This app is just as pleasing to the eye as it is efficient in tracking expenses. The layout is colorful, but also elegant at the same time. The graphics are minimalistic, but not too abstract, and the menus are extremely well determined. All in all it’s very well optimized for using on a smartphone.
Expense reports, receipts, mileage
What you do with it is you take pictures of your receipts and then throw away the paper, because it reads them and create expenses. Reports can then be used to submit expenses to the employer for reimbursement. Invoices can be used to bill your clients for your time and expenses.
You can enter your hourly rate and length of time worked, as well as make a mileage entry by specifying the distance, or using your phone’s GPS. It even saves pictures of your odometer.
It has worldwide currency support, including automatic currency conversion, and you can also use it to create and administrate the categories, tags and rules for all users, if you need to enforce your company’s expense policies.
Offline mode, integration with other services
If your phone doesn’t have a signal or an Internet connection, you can use Expensify offline, even in airplane mode. It imports and exports Excel, Quickbooks, SAP, and integrates with NetSuite, ADP, Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, Evernote, Dropbox, Oracle, SalesForce, FinancialForce, and Xero.
