Brain training apps have slowly become more and more popular as people realize that it’s not only their other muscles that need to get some work out, but also their minds. While most apps will have you go through the training on your own, there’s one that wants to make fun and competitive.

Brain Wars is an app that not only makes you go through a series of training exercises that make your mind sharp, but it also puts you head to head with strangers from all over the world.

Get it started

As you launch the app, you’ll have to use one of the offered ways to log in and to pick a user name. Once you’re in the app, you’ll have to start challenging others to compete against you. As you go through more of these, your stats will increase as the app gets a better idea about your strengths and weaknesses since it evaluates several of your skills: memory, observation, accuracy, calculation judgement, and speed.

Based on the experience you gain, you can move from one grade to the next and your rank will also improve. Speaking of ranking, you can check out how you score against others, or your very own friends. You may even see the world ledger and the rankings from others in your own country.

The app further provides you with stats, including for last week’s games and the overall experience. You’ll see how many wins you’ve scored, how many losses and draws. You’ll also see the top three games where you got the best scores.

Get some training

There are a lot of games you will play against others in the rounds provided by the app. If you want, you can train in each of these from a separate tab so you know what to expect from the game, which is essential when you start out and have no idea what is expected of you.

You have five “hearts” that you can use to challenge others and they replenish within a few minutes. You’ll also notice there are several coins you have there, more of which you can purchase in the app. These will enable you to make sure you’re going to play the game you’re best at from those offered to you for each round.

All in all, this is a pretty great tool that you’re sure to have some fun with, even if your pride will sometimes be wounded.
