It’s essential to train your brain every once in a while. You don’t know you’re getting rusty until it’s too late, and the last thing you need is fail a job interview because you didn’t concentrate hard enough. Same goes for personal affairs. You wouldn’t want to lose your future wife just because your memory failed you and you forgot her name on the first date.

Brain training made fun

Elevate is a brain training program custom made to improve key parts of the brain, gradually, and using fun games and attractive visuals. You can use it to improve your focus, speaking skills, processing speed, memory, math skills, and much more. The free version only gives you a taste of the program, but it’s enough to see an improvement after only a few sessions.

You select what parts of your brain you want to improve, tell the app your age (probably to adjust the speed levels), and you’re off. Each game is more fun than the last, so I can assure you that you won’t be bored. In fact, you’ll be sad that the free app only has a handful of games ready to be used.

Recent updates have brought on some pretty nifty features, including the Switch Recommendation feature that allows you to swap games in the training session. There have also been some improvements in Proportion, Conversion, Pronunciation and 5 other games. One cool game is the Spelling one, that was recently introduced, and which allows you to hammer out the bad wiring in your brain that always gets you writing certain words wrong.

There are also some new Skill levels, which give people access to additional games in the expert mode.

Detailed performance tracking

Your daily workouts include the skills you need most, while the adaptive difficulty progression ensures that your training is challenging and motivating. There’s a built-in workout calendar that helps you track your streaks.

iOS 8 users can track their performance via the new app extension, which makes for a better overall experience if you don’t have to always launch the app.

Stunning interface

I never thought brain training could be made to look so good. Usually these apps come with stupid, kiddy graphics, half of which needs to be explained before you start your workout. Not this one. Everything just falls into place here, and there isn’t a single graphical element that needs explanation. It just works!
