Goodreads – Book Recommendations and Reviews for great Books and eBooks 3.1.4
Goodreads seeks to help people find and share books they love. Similarly, the mobile app will present you with plenty of content you can look through and ways to add books to the list of titles you’ve read or to your “to read” list.
As you connect with your friends, you’ll be able to see their own recommendations and the books they’ve added to their “completed” lists and how they graded the title. The Home area will display your friends’ updates, allowing you to comment and like on their reading activity.
Furthermore, you can also gain access to content published by other users of the platform, including reviews, ratings and even a list of the best books of the year. Millions of votes are cast each year and books from all categories are ranked in a chart, providing further inspiration when you’re out of ideas on what to read next.
You can sign up with your Amazon account and link it to Goodreads for more content and a better integration. It’s clear that Amazon is now trying to better integrate Goodreads into its own products, especially since users of Kindle apps can also take advantage of the connection following a recent update.
Set up a reading challenge
The app also allows you to set up a reading challenge for yourself by deciding on a number of books you want to read throughout the year. Every time you read a book, go back to Goodreads and log that book as “read” so your account can log it in and you can check your progress as the months go by.
It’s always possible to go back to a book you’ve rated to check when you marked it as such, what rating you offered it and to read comments users have written. Your friends’ reviews will stand out against the rest.
Any book on Goodreads can be recommended to others, shared on Facebook or Twitter, via email or SMS. You can search for whatever title you want and get a free sample to read before you decide on whether or not to make a purchase, which will obviously come in handy for all users who don’t want to waste their time with bad books.
The Goodreads app is easy to use thanks to its intuitive interface. It comes with plenty of features and nooks and crannies that you’ll discover as you use the app more and more.
