Instapaper 6.1
How often have you promised to read a certain article, but then forgot about it and moved on without ever getting to go through it? Maybe you even bookmarked it, but with the number of saved articles and other pages in your browser, it probably went by unnoticed.
Meet Instapaper
Well, Instapaper seeks to make your reading activities that much easier. This is an app that was built to save and store articles for later, whether you want to read things when you can benefit from an Internet connection or when you’re offline.
The app is very easy to use. Once installed, you’ll be able to choose Instapaper from the Share menu when browsing. You’ll have to make sure to tap the “More” button and enable Instapaper from the list, maybe even move it around if you so desire, and just make use of it whenever you want to save something to the app.
Instapaper has an extremely simple interface; one that’s particularly easy to navigate and figure out by all users. The app will hold all articles you want to read at a later time and they’ll look even better than they do online. That’s because the app strips them of any ads and it gives you the possibility to adjust the way the article looks like. You can fiddle with the page’s brightness, the font type and size, as well as the background color. Additional features enable you to make some adjustments to the spacing and width of the page, too.
Tilt to scroll
Possibly one of the coolest features that Instapaper makes use of is the tilt scrolling. That means that you’ll be able to just go on and read your articles without having to touch the screen, as the scrolling is only done with the help of a simple phone tilt. Tilt forward and the page will scroll down and the other way around.
Once you’ve read the article, you can simply archive it so it won’t show up on the home screen anymore. If you want, you can highlight areas of the text and save them to a separate list, to which you can have easy access from the side menu.
The app is pretty great and as long as you remember to make a stash of articles, you can read the content even without an Internet connection, such as when you’re on a plane for instance.
