Nero BackItUp 1.14.0.0

A cloud storage app for transferring videos and photos from your phone and browsing the online content
More and more users are moving many of their documents and multimedia files to online storage, so as to have this content available on any device and anywhere an Internet connection is available.

Windows Phone users who are looking for alternatives to the services they are already using or who are simply interested in experiencing such cloud services for the first time have quite a few of choices at their disposal, Nero BackItUp being among them.

Cool looking GUI and smart layout

The appearance of this utility is quite nice, with clean and well designed graphics that are consistent all through the app. The animations and live tiles that are part of the visual package add a pleasant feel to the experience.

Despite the neat organization of the content inside several areas, each dedicated to a certain type of files, browsing the items included in there is less fluent, as the waiting time for loading the photos and sometimes even the entire list of files can be quite extended.

Occasionally, when resuming or starting up the application, you will receive some reminders that prompt you to send feedback or rate Nero BackItUp.

Slow uploads for transferring all your pics and clips

As soon as you sing into your account, the utility will scan the mobile device to identify the supported photos and videos that have to be backed up into the cloud storage, according to the sources you select from the "Settings" area. By default, both photos and videos are queued for uploading and you have 5 GB of free space at your disposal to fill up.

Once the backup procedure is started, you will have to wait for a long while until all the items are sent in their respective containers. In the lower side of the screen you have the total number of images and videos, while inside the animated ring shown in the middle of the screen you can see the number of files left to be uploaded.

Easily access all the content stored online

In case you added to your cloud storage account some documents, music tracks or other type of files using the online interface or after downloading and installing the desktop application, Nero BackItUp will make it possible for you to view them and, if the appropriate apps are installed, access any files.

The built-in music and video players make it a breeze to view the clips and listed to the songs you have in store, while pretty much any selected item or group of files you mark can be shared in a variety of ways.

More precisely, you can send them out via SMS or email messages, through social networks or you can simply copy to the system clipboard the link to the respective item.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8

The application comes with a decent look, with smooth and tidy graphics and a well structured layout, but has lots of lags in loading the content.

Function7

Users can access all the content hosted inside their online account, but uploading is only possible for pictures and video files.

Security9

A pretty discreet app on the whole, Nero BackItUp will only need to access the phone identity area for some reason.

Battery2

This utility drains the battery very fast, so keeping it running and transferring large amounts of data is best done with the phone plugged in.

Price10

All the features of this application can be used freely and with minor nuisances from the seldom seen prompts.

Compatibility9

Most Windows Phone users can enjoy having this app installed onto their handsets, as long as these are powered by version 8 or higher of the OS.
