NBC News is the mobile app translation of the TV station’s news site, one that is pretty popular in the entire world, although it gets the best marks in the United States, where it also originates.

The app’s home page presents the top news of the day, highlighted by using a big picture. All subsequent articles come with a smaller square picture and the accompanying headline which will or won’t draw you in to read more.
Unlike other similar tools that badger you about notifications before you even get to see the app load, this one waits a minute before it asks if you’d like to receive news alerts on important breaking news. You can, of course, disable these at any time.
The news articles come with photos and videos, depending on what content the folks over at NBC have on each of them. You can see just how long ago the article was published and share it with the world. It does seem, however, that the app has a bit of an issue with loading embedded tweets. Some will work, while on other occasions the code will just look scrambled as you can see in the pictures attached to the review.
At the bottom of each article, you’ll get some sponsored links of articles that you may enjoy. It’s clear that they’re sponsored, of course, since there’s absolutely no correlation between the topics.
The app comes with a widget, which you can adjust from the Today screen. All notifications are interactive, so you'll be able to control them on the go.
Check out the sections
The app comes with a few sections. For instance, the Home page will display the latest news, but picking the In-Depth section will provide you with several topics that have gotten extensive coverage. You’ll notice the latest three articles displayed before leaving room for a “Full Coverage” button which will take you to a page where you can view all the articles written on that particular topic.
In the Sections area you can check out the news categories available on NBC, including world, politics, sports, health, tech, pop culture, business, lifestyle, science and so on. The Shows section lets you access footage from several popular NBC shows.
All in all, this is a pretty great tool if you want to get informed about what’s happening in the world.
