Network TV 2.1.1
Web TV is getting awesome
N3TWORK is an internet TV network (as its name implies) which you can control. When the introductory video is over, you get to select the stuff you’re interested in, such as sports, science, comedy, and so on and so forth, and the app just serves up highlights from those categories. No need to fiddle with channels and search. You just swipe through the previews and tap to play.
iOS 8 users can share their favorite videos from the Photos gallery, as well as Internet videos via Safari. The app also takes advantage of the Today widget, enabling you to see what’s on N3twork straight off the bat, without having to worry too much.
The tool has added Google Chromecast support, which should make users of the Google dongle quite happy. Of course, it’s a year and a half after the device was originally launched, but better late than never. The TV button will help you connect to Chromecast.
Cursive interface
N3TWORK’s UI is very lean and friendly. Everything just flows under your fingertips. The video preview loops endlessly underneath the transclucent description overlay until you tap to play, and also there you can like and comment on the video, even whisk it away to your later viewing box (which doesn’t work offline, unfortunately).
Social ties and options
It connects to Facebook and Twitter (but it’s not mandatory) to gather information about your tastes. You can regard this as intrusive, but how else is the app going to know what you care for? Actually, there is a way. You can just create a N3TWORK account with your email address and then make your picks manually. The setup process takes less than a minute.
Sharing content to Facebook and Twitter is extremely easy and only requires a few touches to the screen. More social features have been added to the mix, recently, allowing users to find N3twork friends from Facebook and Twitter.
Other options include AirPlay mirroring (to put the content on a bigger screen), and the ability to create your own channel where you publish your stumble-upons. You can also go online and just fetch the content yourself to publish it to your channel and become unique. Not surprisingly, you can upload stuff even from your camera roll. Be careful with that, by the way.

Bottom Line
Design / UI10
Everything from the introduction video to the actual player module just glides. The design is attractive and usability is at its peak. However, some video content is pixelated. |
Function9
It’s not live TV but it’s the next best thing. The customization options and the personal channel make it a brilliant video app. |
Security7
Careful with those uploads and pay attention to the warning signs about posting to Facebook and Twitter on your behalf. |
Battery8
Extensive usage of the app will result in some drainage, but not alarmingly much. |
Price10
Free of charge with no strings attached. |
Compatibility9
Works natively on all devices and requires iOS 7. |
A truly personal TV experience, right in your pocket
