Microsoft Xim 1.5
Sure, I was expecting to encounter a tool that looks nice, it’s easy to handle and has a somewhat speedy working process, but Xim actually impresses.
The idea behind the app is to share your photos, not your phone with the world. You can create a slideshow that you can share with friends on their devices or that you can broadcast to various devices.
Pick the photo location
As mentioned, you can pick photos that are on your Camera Roll, up in One Drive, Dropbox, Facebook or Instagram. The last four will require that you log in, but that’s a small security risk that you’ll have to take.
It’s not just the fact that you can send friends a link to view your content, but you may also share the content over to the big screen. The app comes with support for Xbox One, Google Chromecast, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and the Fire TV Stick. Alternatively, you can pick a browser. All you need to do is go visit a certain web address, type in a special unique code and pair the phone with the devices.
The result is a staggeringly fast syncing tool. There is little to no delay as you swipe from photo to photo, or as you zoom in and out of certain areas. You can control the swiping process from both your phone and the connected device, but you’ll notice the effects in both places.
Send links
If you send people a link, they’ll be able to check out your slideshow from any device, including from Android phones, even if they don’t have the app, which is pretty great. All Xims have an expiration time which enable you to make sure that your content isn’t forever accessible to them. Unfortunately, there’s no “off” button so you can’t exactly turn it off when you want to, but it will close off in an hour so that’s as good as it gets.
The app’s settings area is pretty slim and only allows you to deauthorize devices or to delete accounts.
Microsoft Xim is a pretty great app and you should definitely give it a go. It’s simple to use, doesn’t take a genius to figure it out and comes with lightning-fast sync, which isn’t something that can be said about most tools, regardless of the connection method they use.
