AllCast 1.0.53
Google’s try at dongles has enchanted many due to the relatively low price of the device, but it has also annoyed quite a few users due to the limitations set on what you can actually cast via the official Google apps.
Not to worry, though, since the company made the code public and developers from all over the world have hurriedly created plenty of tools to make up for it all. One of the most popular ones is AllCast, a tool that allows users to cast photos, music and videos to the TV.
Straightforward
The app has a design that’s pretty easy to figure out by all users, including those that have never cast anything to Chromecast before. The interface is clean and presents all the options you need straight from the main page. For instance, you can send off to the TV media content from your device, including photos and videos, but also music. For the latter, you can check out playlists, albums and songs.
The cool part about the app is that you can link up more sources, including your Google+ account, Instagram, Dropbox, Google Drive and various media servers that you’ve set up.
The Settings page allows users to make a few more changes, including to set the video bitrate, to hide iTunes Cloud Music and to manage the linked accounts.
Choose your content
When casting content the app gives you control over what you share on the TV. For instance, you can send separate photos from a certain album or just show off the entire thing by starting up a slideshow. It depends, of course, on who your audience is and what you want to share with them.
When listening to music off of your device, the app will display a media controller, allowing you to pause and play the track and so on.
Overall, Allcast is a great app to have around and it certainly gives you more options on what to cast and how to handle the Chromecast you connected to your TV. It’s very easy to use and that makes it even more desirable to have it on your device.
