Microsoft Xim 1.5.1

Share photos on multiple devices instantly using a one of a kind app
Google Play Market is filled with all sorts of applications for sharing photographs and content with multiple devices and friends across social platforms. Still, many of them are somewhat generic and come with limited capabilities.

Microsoft launched a new service that's quite revolutionary and unique in its own way. Xim promises to help you share pictures with friends across multiple devices, but without giving their phones access to other areas of your device. Xim doesn't use Bluetooth but rather cloud services to deliver a unique sharing experience.

Sleek and very polished interface

Fluency of use are the best words to describe this app, therefore the interface also comes with a sleek design and clean layout. The side menu offers access to various sections and the app has distinct icons for creating slideshows and pairing your phone with various devices.

But in order to enjoy the unique features in this app, you'll need to check out the tutorial and then register with an account. Xim opens with a tutorial of several slides, but it seems that the app freezes when you reach the second slide and doesn't provide you with the option of advancing or going back. Still, the log in icon functions.

Share slides with friends

Registration is made by providing your phone number, you can choose to receive a text message or phone call with a code that you must enter in the next section. Fill in information for your profile using your Facebook account and get started with the app.

Create new slideshows by importing pictures from your camera roll, cloud storage services like OneDrive or Dropbox and social platforms like Facebook or Instagram. It also lets you add captions and save pictures.

The app doesn't access other folders on your device, so you won't be able to import pictures from other directories. Next fill in the name, phone number or email address of your friend and start sharing.

Users can share up to 50 pictures per session to up to 5 receivers. They don't need to have the app installed on their phones in order to view the pictures. There's the option of commenting, inviting more users to the session or adding more pictures. Sessions expire in 60 minutes and users don't have the option of closing them once they were launched, which may be an issue.

Xim also connects to devices in your vicinity, like browsers, Xbox One, Google Chromecast, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. Visit the website in order to pair your browser, type in the code and start sharing pictures. Slide and zoom and changes will appear on the browser. However, it has a bit of trouble displaying the exact area or picture you've zoomed on the phone.

Function8

The idea is brilliant, but the app has some functionality issues that should be resolved.

Security7

Users choose which pictures they wish to share, but the fact that they can't stop sessions is a big issue.

Battery7

Consumption isn't high, but you'll have to keep an eye on resources if you spend a lot of time in the app.

Price10

Since it's offered by a major company, the app is completely free of charge and doesn't come any sort of purchases or ads.

Compatibility7

It should work on devices running Android version 4.1 or later.
