Finding the perfect dish to cook on that special upcoming occasion can be difficult. Scouring the Internet for the right solution can take a lot of time and you may end up more confused than when you started out searching.

Having an app on hand to help you out may be the best solution, however. With Epicurious, for instance, you can search not only for a certain type of dish, but also for those that will fit the type of diet you’re striving for, such as healthy foods, or some that are low carb, low calorie or low fat, to name a few.

Recipes for everyone

There are also recipes for those that are barely finding their way around a kitchen or for those who want a quick dinner plan, or recipes that are gluten free. Basically, Epicurious delivers everything that you may want.

When you check out a recipe, you can view how many servings the ingredients will be enough for, as well as the rating it received from other users and even reviews. The ingredients list is also present, along with the step-by-step instructions on how to make the dish.

Any recipe can be shared with others straight from the app, while the ingredients can be added to the shopping list so you always know what to buy when leaving the house, without having to jot things down on a piece of paper. The recipe can also be added to the recipe box, basically a folder where you keep them all.

What’s possibly the coolest feature of this app is the voice control. You’ll have to enable this feature for every recipe you need it for, which you can do straight from the main page. You can use four commands – “up,” “down,” “ingredients” and “preparation.” These will move you through the various areas of the recipe and you can just enjoy cooking without worrying of getting grease on the phone or having to wash your hands a gazillion times just so you can scroll through the recipe.

This feature will quickly deplete your battery so you should make sure that you have your power cord nearby in case you need it. Turning off the feature can be done from the same button you used to turn it on.
