EndlessTV 1.7.0

Watch streaming videos of, news, celebrity gossip, sports, history, music, etc.
You’ll never believe it, but there’s an app in the iTunes Store that lets you watch hundreds of TV channels, free of charge. Okay so that’s not entirely accurate. The channels are there, the content is there and ready to stream, it’s just not...well.... live.

Great image quality, clean UI

EndlessTV looks great! It’s clean and simple, and it’s instantly obvious how the app needs to be used. Videos go full screen and the image quality is great most of the time. Developer Tip or Skip says there’s no spinning download wheel, but the UI does display translucent colorful stripes when a video needs more buffering.

EndlessTV strips away the wait-to-download ads, and just delivers awesome web video from the world’s most popular stations.

Just tap to watch

Watching recorded TV programs as clips has never been more engaging. You just tap to add your favorite channels to the home page, tap the channel and start watching. No ads to sit through before buffering, the the playback is instant. You tap to pause (at which point an innocent ad will be displayed), and tap again to resume playback. You flick left and right to skip through videos - key parts of the respective channel’s programming - and you can easily clear downloads in the settings.

There are no tweaks to make, you just grab NBA or TMZ or Reuters or whatever and start watching. It’s pretty amazing stuff. It’s not live, but it’s a great time killer anywhere you are, and it works the same on both iPhone and iPad.

Grab it while it's there

The only thing we’re worried about is that this awesome set of features won’t last for long. We hear that EndlessTV is still in its experimental stages (trying to work out the kinks of getting revenue in the hands of the content creators).

Hits & Misses

hits

  • pick your favorite channels to watch
  • stream videos with no lag or latency
  • swipe to skip to a new video
  • over a hundred channels to watch
  • killer application icon

misses

  • UI could use a little more polish
  • in-app purchase could use more clarification
Bottom Line
Design / UI9

The UI could use more polish, but you’ll love it, we promise

Function9

You just tap to add your channels, then tap to watch

Security9

Has some built-in sharing features, but otherwise it just fetches content from the web. It doesn’t upload anything apparently

Battery7

For a video app, it’s very easy on the battery. On iPad, you can watch hours at a time and only see minimal consumption

Price10

Even with the ads, it’s still more than you can expect from a free app. Hands down the best free web-TV app we’ve seen.

Compatibility9

Requires iOS 7 and has an iPad-native version. It’s perfectly optimized for all screen sizes
