Curious 1.3.4
Arts, DIY, Music, Photography, Cooking, you name it
Whatever it is that you’re trying to learn, Curious has you covered. Want to nab that new job and don’t know the first thing about Excel. No problem. There’s a free course in there taught by a professional and it’s free of charge. You even get brief quizzes between sections, so you can test your knowledge and see if you’ve accumulated anything.
Other categories include: home and garden, music, academic, sports, life skills, even some health and fitness tutorials are in there. Most of the content is paid, though. Curious offers just a few examples to get you started, but the real knowledge is behind a paywall. The guides ask you to “enroll” if you want to get the full scoop, and prices generally range from $0.99 / €0.89 to $14.99 / €13.99.
App Store Layout
The UI is designed to look like a store. The content is divided by lessons, collections, teachers, staff picks, and categories. The Featured section always sits at the top and lets you browse key / popular lessons viewed by everyone.
The search function strangely doesn’t work, and the video controls for each tutorial are a tad too small. However, once you go landscape mode everything goes front and center and there are no problems accessing the on-screen controls, including the quiz answers.
Lessons come with a table of contents, attachments (if any), comments (plenty of them too), and other stuff. There's also the addedinformation about each lesson during playback, which is quite handy for those who want to find out a bit more about it all before immersing themselves into the courses.
iOS 8 users will notice that there’s a Curious widget that allows them to get instant access to Free lessons of the day without even launching the app. They’re also able to keep track of their lesson progress from the same window, while also being able to enroll in new free lessons.
You can subscribe by hitting the Enroll button at the top right side. Enrolling lets you save your place, ask questions and add comments.

Final Grade: 8.8 (the app could use a little more work, but the content is invaluable)
