Trying to decide what to cook for the evening when you don’t really crave anything in particular is especially difficult. Searching the Internet left and right for something to eat is one option you have at your disposal, while getting an app dedicated to this kind of content is another and one that you might find even more useful considering that an app is a lot easier to handle.

BigOven is an app that can be used for this particular purpose. It hosts over 350,000 recipes, as the devs brag, which means that you’ll have plenty of options to choose from whenever you find the time and mood to cook something, varying from simple recipes to some that require a bit more skill in the kitchen.

Easy as pie

The app is pretty simple to use and comes with some nifty features that you’ll certainly find useful. On the app’s main page you’ll notice there are plenty of suggestions to go through. If you want to look for something more particular, you can do this by tapping on the fork and knife button in the lower ribbon and check out various recipe collections, menus or recipes that were recently reviewed.

In the menus section, you’ll find plenty of popular ones, such as food for parties, holidays and so one, but also international cuisine, recipes created for specific diets, ones that will better fit specific weather conditions, holidays or seasons.

All recipes come with one or more photographs, a list of ingredients, and preparation instructions. If you have an account, you can check out nutrition info for the recipe, which will be useful for those counting calories, for instance. There are also plenty of user reviews to check out.

Extra features

Each recipe can be added to the list of things you want to try out, to your favorites list or to the cooking plan for the next few days. The ingredients can be added to the shopping list so you can easily have access to it when you’re out in the supermarket.

BigOven further sports a tool that will help you handle all the leftover ingredients from last night’s cooking session, as well as anything else you may have in your fridge and pantry. By telling the app three of these ingredients, you’ll get a list of recipes that includes those and that you can check out.
