World Newspapers 3.0.1
Simplistic interface that really needs an upgrade
We've tested quite a few news apps and they all come with interesting layouts that allow users to customize the main page and flip through articles with one swipe of the screen. However, this app's interface needs some improvements especially when it comes to design.
Still, the app isn't complicated and comes with plenty of tips. The toolbar on top of the screen provides access to all sections, while settings are found in the 'hamburger' icon on the bottom of the screen. Users may have the app automatically delete cache when exiting the app or enable alerts in the notification bar.
Read articles from all over the world
The app automatically opens articles from the US, unless you select another country. It has 6,000 newspaper links from more than 105 countries. You'll find links to the most popular newspapers but the app takes a bit of time to load articles from original websites.
There are controls on the bottom of the page, but the icons are small and users may tap on the banner ads by mistake. Still, there's a settings menu with options to save articles for offline reading, share on social networks or translate into English. In addition, you can change text size and refresh the page if you wish.
Browse through magazines and watch videos
You can browse for articles by continent or country or check out the most popular ones. World Newspapers doesn't just offer access to articles, but also videos. You can watch clips by major news agencies, but they're all hosted on YouTube and there's no option of downloading them.
The app also has links to popular magazines focusing on sports, lifestyle and more, while the Web News section is filled with links to the most popular websites that deliver news online. There's also a search bar, if you're looking for a certain website or magazine.

Bottom Line
Design / UI7
The interface could use an upgrade, it seems a bit dull and dated but the layout is well structured and makes it easy to browse through articles. |
Function8
It performs well, but takes a bit of time to load pages and even more time to translate them. However, the RSS reader is a fine touch. |
Security9
No online registration, the app only needs access to media files on your phone in order to save content for offline reading. |
Battery7
Consumption is slightly above average, however it depends whether you're reading online or watching videos. |
Price8
Free of charge, but if you wish to remove ads you must pay 5.17$ for the pro version. |
Compatibility9
It should be compatible with devices running Android version 3.0 or later. |
A great app for reading articles from newspapers all over the world.
