TrackID
The most popular song recognition app is Shazam, but the market does offer some interesting and useful alternatives that you can also try out. TrackID is one of them. The interface is more simplistic than Shazam and the app doesn't come with that many ads compared to the market leader in this segment.
Sleek and easy-to-use UI
The app doesn't have a complicated UI, but it would have been nice if it came with a tutorial or some kind of instructions. It doesn't even have a help or FAQ section, although new users would benefit greatly from such a feature.
It doesn't use material design, but the layout is really sleek making navigation inside the app quite seamless. It also lacks a settings menu, the app doesn't come with any changes that you could do to the UI or the whole user-experience.
Still, the UI is the most simplistic and sleek out of all song recognition apps that we've reviewed, so you shouldn't have any trouble with using this app.
Recognize all sort of songs
All that you need to do in order to recognize a song is to tap on an icon on the screen. The app starts listening to the song playing and provides you with the name of the artist and the song.
It tells you the album, the date it was released, the label and the genre. You also have a link to YouTube, so you can see the video of the song. You can get more information on the band and the awards they might have won. There's also a section with popular tracks and albums by the same artist.
It works offline
The nice thing about this app is that it works offline, it simply records the song and lets you search for it later when internet connection is available. However, you must make sure that there's no other background noise so that the app would recognize the song faster.
Users can register with their Sony or Facebook accounts so that the app would save and sync their history of searched songs. The history of songs is displayed on the home page and there's also a section with top songs searched in countries from all over the world.

Bottom Line
Design / UI9
The interface is really nice, simplistic but with everything at hand aside from the really nice visuals and animation. |
Function9
It works just fine, even in the offline mode and provides users with little but essential information on the song and artist. |
Security9
It needs online registration in order to sync your history and all the permissions are connected to features. |
Battery8
Consumption is significantly lower than that for Shazam, which is quite great since the app definitely won't drain your resources. |
Price10
It's completely free of charge, Shazam is filled with all sort of ads but TrackID doesn't have any. |
Compatibility7
The developer didn't mention Android versions compatible with this app, but it should also work on Android Wear. |
It's definitely better than Shazam, with a sleeker design, no ads and easier to use.
