Have you ever listened a cool track on the radio, but didn't know the artist or the name of the song? You could have used Shazam, a simple app that identifies your song and provides links for buying it online. You can also use it to identify TV programs and to listen to the most popular songs.

Let Shazam identify music tracks and TV programs

The greatest thing about this app is the fact that it can identify songs and even TV programs. Simply press on the icon and the app listens to the song and Shazam finds it. However, it's important for the volume to be turned up and to avoid any audio interference. The app then opens a page with the song, which you can play or share on social networking sites.

There's also a link to Google Play or Amazon if you wish to purchase it. In addition, you can log into Rdio with your Facebook account and create your own playlist of songs to listen to. Shazam app also displays the lyrics to the song, a biography of the band or artist, discography, the date and location of their next concert and an album review.

International charts with top artists

If the song has a video, Shazam with redirect you to Youtube and play it. In addition, you will find a list of recommended artists, part of the same genre as the identified track. There's a history of all the songs Shazam identifies, so you can always go back and listen to them again. Also, there's a section with news and one with charts of the top artists. In addition, you can explore charts of top songs from all over the world.

Although, Shazam is easy-to-use and extremely useful if you're trying to identify mainstream songs, the GUI is quite cluttered with too many links for playing the song and too many ads. Some of them take up half of the screen.
