It's works like a social platform, in the sense that it lets you check out what songs your friends are listening to and lets you chat with them inside groups. You can also like songs and link multiple social networks so you may connect with all of your friends.
Sleek design and plenty of features at hand
The app sports a really nice design with lots of features at hand. It doesn't come with a tutorial or any instructions for showing new users how to manage the app. Still, you'll need to register with an account before you can actually use the app, do so by linking your Google, Facebook accounts or creating a whole new profile.
The all launches directly with the timeline feature, where you'll see all the recent songs that your friends have listened to. Therefore, in order to discover many varied and new songs, you must follow lots of users. You also get suggestions of how to follow, including the developers of this app.
Discover various songs
Scroll through the timeline to listen to songs that may seem interesting. The app shows you all the songs that your friends are listening to. You can like songs or open them in various players or apps like YouTube, Spotify, Rdio or Deezer. Soundwave only lets you play 30 second songs, but it does let you comment on songs, follow users that have the same taste in music as you or customize your profile so that it stands out.
Create groups and check out the music map
The app also lets you create groups, where you can invite users to join and chat with them on music preferences and other things. You can also invite whichever user you like to your group and actually create a community of people that listen to the same music genre as you do. The built in map lets you draw on certain areas and see what people listen to.
The app uses Google Maps for this section. One of its shortcomings is that it doesn't have a search bar so you can type in keywords and listen to whichever song you like. Still, it links to many music players and apps, so you can assign a default one and check out your history whenever you launch it.
