Soundwave 3.0.9
That’s how Soundwave works. You sign in to use the service, you create groups of friends and share music from the Internet with them, promoting music for others to discover.
Just pick up and use
The iPhone app is well designed to get you up and running in seconds. You have the tabs at the bottom for the app’s various sections, a play-pause button at the top right for your currently playing song, and an options button right next to it. The chat feature looks a lot like any other IM client.
A music aggregator & social network
Soundwave nets all the songs that you play on Spotify, YouTube etc. and adds them to your profile. From here on you can share your music to friends directly from within the app. If you sign on with Facebook, you’re guaranteed to find a lot of people to follow, fast.
The app makes it particularly easy to invite friends over to chat about music, while playing music over from YouTube is also easier than ever.
You can start a group chat with your buddies and share songs from any music app, as well as follow friends to see what they listen to. You can also find random people around the world and follow them as well, to discover more music in more genres. Much like in Twitter, you’ll get recommendations of who you should follow based on your taste in music. Speaking of which, you can also link Soundwave to Twitter and Google as well.
Music Map
A cool map feature lets you draw a circle around a given area to discover plays in that location. When the app finds plays, it pops up Soundwave icons like mushrooms. You can tap these and see what songs they hide, as well as who's listening to those tunes.

Bottom Line
Design / UI9
Nicely done with a clear focus on music discoverability. Video quality is also good, and the UI overall is very easy to use. The chat section looks clean and simple. |
Function9
Makes music discovering easy and fun. The social aspect of the app is very well thought out. Why bother convincing users what to listen to when they can just gang up and convince themselves. |
Security7
Soundwave is deeply rooted into many different networks, and it fetches a lot of data from its users. It’s up to you to protect your privacy. |
Battery6
Relatively high consumption because it uses location services and plays music videos. |
Price10
Free with no ads and no in-app purchases. |
Compatibility8
iOS 7.0 and no dedicated iPad version (a shame). |
A great way to discover new music and make friends
