If you're a fan of Hip-Hop or R&B music, you know how difficult it is to find new artists and songs. Try DatPiff, it's a collection of mixtapes with songs belonging to recording artists as well as rappers who are new to the music scene. It's also a great platform for promoting new songs and albums, so check out DatPiff since you'll surely find something you like.

Sleek UI filled with instructions

Considering that this app is mainly designed for listening to new music, the GUI is really well thought. Al tools are at hand at the side of the screen, while banner ads are displayed at the bottom of the screen, but there's plenty of space for browsing and displaying album art and the playlist.

The 'hamburger' icon hides the many tools available in this app and if you need any help with it, the app comes with plenty of onscreen instructions to get you started. Although the app clearly focuses on content, its interface is non-responsive at times and because of this you may unintentionally change the song while navigating in the UI.

The app opens with the highlighted section of trending mixtapes and artists, the section if filled with songs that got the most likes. Tap on one and the app opens a playlist of numbered songs, you must simply tap on one song and DatPiff plays it.

Shift to right and you'll see the playlist and be able to share it with friends or download it for offline listening. However, due to copyright some of the most popular songs and classics aren't available for listening or download, except maybe in the form of remixes.

DatPiff is a great way of discovering new artists, it comes with rankings of the most popular mixtapes and songs of the current week and month. Unfortunately, the current version didn't support signing up as developers have encountered several issues with this section, so the vote option was disabled.

The upcoming releases section is filled with the mixtapes scheduled to be releases in a few days. You can also browse through mixtapes containing songs of various artists and manage your downloaded songs.

Bottom Line

Design / UI9 Simplistic but functional design. The whole interface consists of two home screens, one on which you search for music and one with your playing mixtape.	Function7 The app is non-responsive at times, but it provides you with free mixtapes that you can download to your device. However, online registration is not working in this version which is a bummer.	Security8 It needs many permissions from your phone and online registration, but it doesn't impose any risks on your device.
Battery4 Power consumption is pretty high, even if you're going to listen on the go make sure you have enough battery to last you throughout the playlist.	Price8 It comes with banner ads on the bottom of the screen and there's no pro version to remove them.	Compatibility8 In order to work the app should be installed on devices running Android version 2.3 or later.
