Engadget 2.0.6.0
Sleek interface with plenty to offer
The app doesn't come with a tutorial, but it wouldn't really need one since it follows the basic guidelines of any Android app in the sense that it has a side menu and lots of extra features. It doesn't need online registration, but before you can actually start using the app, you should pick the edition.
There are only two options for that, the US or the UK. The app lets you enable breaking news notifications, so that it would give you alerts for whenever important tech events are reported.
Browse through all sort of articles
it lets you easily browse and search for articles, using the bar on top of the screen. You can check out all the popular articles and stories, you get the option of adjusting text size or sharing the article with friends on social networks. You can also favorite stories and check them out later in a separate section.
There are also suggestions of similar articles at the bottom of each story and users can access the comments section and input their own opinion on the matter. You can also check out reviews for various gadgets and a whole section of articles recommended for you, based on your preferences and favorite topics.
Watch videos and listen to podcasts
The app also gives you access to the video section, filled with all sort of clips that you can check out, favorite or share on other networks. You can also check out podcasts, the app provides you with a wide variety to pick from. In addition, you have access to shows from the website and basically any other information that you would find on the official site.
It's a nice app with plenty of nice features and tools, but it's also missing some essential ones. Still, all articles that you've favorited are saved inside the app so you can check them later even if you don't have internet connection.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8
The app works just fine, but it doesn't really have that many UI settings and it only lets you enable some notifications. |
Function8
It could use some more features, aside from the ones that let you save content for offline use and share articles online. |
Security9
It only needs access to areas that it uses so it shouldn't really pose any privacy issues. |
Battery8
Consumption is low, the app won't drain your battery unless you spend all of your time watching videos. |
Price9
It's completely free of charge but it comes with some ads from AOL. |
Compatibility8
It should work on devices running Android version 2.3.3 or later, making it accessible to many users. |
It's a nice app but it could use some more features.
