Dr.Web 9.02.1
Nice interface that lacks animation and visual effects
We've gotten used to seeing antivirus apps with interfaces packed with visual effects and animation. It features all sections arranged into a list, with a settings menu on the top right corner of the screen.
You can enable sounds for alerts, notifications or have the app check files in archives when scanning. Make sure to back up data and save your settings inside the app and enable all features before you get started. The app doesn't come with instructions, so you'll have to figure it out yourself.
Scan your device for malware
Firstly, you need to enable the guard to have the app monitor and protect your system at all times. Dr.Web comes with a call blocker, preventing calls from certain contacts to go through. SMS filtering is also available, but no on devices running Android 5.0.1. Still, the main feature inside the app is the antivirus.
You can perform all sorts of operations, like quick, full and custom scans of apps and files on your device. However, keep in mind that the app takes its time and even the quick scan lasts for quite a while, longer than for any other antivirus app we've tested. Clearly, developers should work on this section more.
Anti-theft feature
Dr.Web comes with one feature that not all antiviruses have, an anti-theft tool. You can have the app send special SMSs commands to find or block your phone, in case it was lost or stolen. In order to use the feature, you'll need to register on the Dr.Web server and set up a password.
You can have one of your contacts send an SMS command in case you've forgotten the password. The Cloud Checker feature lets you restrict phone users from viewing numerous categories of non-recommended and potentially dangerous websites.
It supports many browsers. Other than that, the app comes with a Firewall you can enable for extra protection and a security auditor that informs you of intrusive apps installed on your device.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8
It could use some animation and visual effects to make it stand out among all the other antivirus apps. |
Function7
It works fine but it requires a lot of time to perform even the quickest scans. Still, it incorporates some tools that other apps don't or demand payments for them. |
Security9
As an antivirus app, it provides increased protection and security against malware and anti-theft solutions. |
Battery8
Generally, anti-virus apps don't take too much battery and Dr.Web isn't an exception from that rule. |
Price8
It comes with a two weeks free trial, afterward you'll need to purchase licenses of at least 8.96$ for one year. |
Compatibility8
The developer didn't mention Android versions compatible with this device. |
A neat anti-virus app, that offers lots of features but it could use some improvements.
