Citymapper
Thankfully, there's an app called Citymapper that can help you plan routes to whichever destination you need as long as it's within supported cities. It has lots of integrated features, including public transportation schedules and alerts to let you know when to get off a bus and hop on another.
Easy-to-use interface with lots of features
It doesn't come with a tutorial or any kind of instructions that new users could check out, but the interface is quite intuitive and you wouldn't really need them. It uses Material Design and it doesn't lag even if it needs access to your data and location services in order to create routes and provide you with alternative ways to reach your destination.
The UI is quite stylish and the map works flawlessly, the app doesn't need any online registration. Users may save routes and sync them across multiple devices if the use their Google, Facebook profiles or email addresses to register.
Search for all sort of routes
The app currently supports 21 cities from all over the world, some from Europe or the United States. You can vote on new cities to be supported and contribute to their inclusion in the app by helping developers and providing them with information.
You'll have to enable location services, so the app can pinpoint you on a map and calculate routes easier. Next, you'll need to type in the destination and choose from a list of suggestions. You can set whichever arrival time you wish, so that the app can take into account traffic conditions.
Save routes and check them offline
It calculates multiple route alternatives, including by car, bus or train if available. It also provides you with an estimate of how much time it would take you to walk there and displays the number of calories you would burn and food equivalents. It shows you weather conditions at your destination and it's even integrated with Uber, so you could see if there are Uber drivers heading to that area.
You even get alerts for when the next bus arrives and you can save the route and check it offline. You can also filter results and have the app only display buses from a certain coach company or metro stations. Traffic conditions are also shown.
