It's always useful to have a navigation app on your phone, especially if you like to drive often. But many navigation apps need constant internet connection to display the map and all the details on it. But you don't always have mobile data to waste and need an app that works perfectly.

MAPS.ME is such a map, it comes with packs of detailed maps for all countries all over the world and you won't need internet connection to access them. In addition, it has a routing feature that lets you receive map directions to a specific location.

Sleek interface with plenty of features at hand

The app doesn't come with a tutorial or any kind of instructions, so you'll have to discover features on your own. It also doesn't show you anything about how to navigate inside the app but it does have a toolbar on the bottom of the screen, access it to reach settings and to search for a location. It also lets you manage bookmarks, in the sense that you can add bookmarks on maps or import them from e-mail, Dropbox or weblink.

Download all sort of maps for your phone

In addition, it lets you save detailed maps of countries on your phone, with marked gas stations and coffee shops as to make it easier to find what you're looking for. In order to download maps, you simply need to access the menu and save the map to the country you're currently in.

You can only download certain cities of a country but that's only available for some locations, not all. Still, you can change the measurement units or have the app display zoom buttons on the screen to make it easier to navigate.

Get directions to where you need to be

Other than the fact that MAPS.ME lets you view offline maps, you can also use the app to get directions to wherever you need to get. The routing feature works just fine, the app uses Google Play to find your current location and then provides you with a route.

However, it doesn't take into consideration the traffic or construction sites in your way. If you tap on the search icon, you'll find suggestions of landmarks and locations in the city, including banks, ATMs, shops, public transport, hotels or restaurants.

You can check opening hours, website, phone number and many more. The app displays the routes for buses and even the street numbers, making it ideal when you're searching for a certain address. You can create routes between countries and regions.
