Waze Social GPS, Maps & Traffic
Radio traffic reports are useful but they aren't always accurate as Waze is. It's a community of users who share real time traffic reports and road info to help others save time and gas by avoiding those areas.
Sleek interface with plenty of features at hand
A detailed guide will show you how to navigate in the app and instructions will provide you with the steps for joining the community and making posts yourself. But, you'll only find them if you search the menu located on the bottom left side of the screen.
Before you can start using Waze you'll need to turn on location services for the app to automatically pinpoint the area where you are located. Moreover, the app lets you enable sound and get alerts if you're driving and don't have the time to constantly check your phone.
Check real time traffic reports, road info and create routes
To avoid getting stuck in traffic, use Waze and get real time reports and road info from various users who commute on that route. The app opens a map with distinct icons related to the event on a particular street. It displays the speed with which drivers travel on certain roads. Waze also lets you create routes to destinations and even provides you with alternative roads to take. It displays an ETA and automatically shifts from 2D to 3D view.
It shows traffic jams, police patrols, accidents that may have occurred on certain streets, traffic cameras and closed roads. Tap on one icon and it will display information on the user who posted it and the location of the event. The map is filled with such icons and they might clog the screen and make it difficult to zoom in/out.
Chat with friends and other drivers on the road
A phone number is required for chatting with friends, but you can use the app even if you don't provide one. Still, it could come in hand if you need to check the traffic on a certain street and even message a driver that's near that location. It also makes it easy to send 'I'm on my way' messages instantly.
Also, you can import friends from Facebook and contacts from your phone's contact list to chat with them. All users can report on traffic-related events and get points for that in order to advance to a higher level with more benefits. One of those perks is the option to check which stations sell the cheapest gas.

The developer didn't mention Android versions required for this app to work. |
A great app for checking traffic reports but users must keep an eye on battery levels.
