It's important to instal an antivirus program on your device, especially your smartphone. But Google Play Store is filled with all sorts of antivirus apps making it difficult to determine which is truly efficient. Cheetah Mobile has been on the market for over 16 years and has proven that it provide easy-to-use and powerful software for computers and phones as well.

Lightweight app packed with an impressive number of features

Regardless of the category, users want lightweight apps with many features and that work like a charm without any crashes or freezes. CM's app is exactly like that, it's filled with useful information but delivered in an unclogged UI. It features an icon for the menu on the top right corner of the screen and suggestions of other apps to download.

Scan your device for malware

After you launch the app it urges you to perform the first scan. CM brags with an antivirus app that manages to scan any device in about 5 seconds and although we were skeptical at first, it turns out that it does literally need only a few seconds to find viruses on your phone, analyze your privacy and find junk files on your device.

That's impressive but unfortunately it failed to identify an app with adware that we're previously installed, which means that it's not that efficient in protecting your phone. Still, scan reports come with reports on recently installed apps and suggestions on features to use and other apps by the developer. Sadly, CM comes with ads.

Boost memory, lock apps, find your phone

The app can be successfully used to boost your memory by providing you with information on which apps may be overheating the CPU and killing those that run in the background. But it uses Clean Master, another one of its apps, in order to do so.

Still the app lock is a nice addition to an antivirus, it lets you lock important apps on your phone and takes a picture of the person who types in the wrong password twice, rather than three times as it is for other similar apps. CM helps users locate their phones for free, by making it yell or locking data remotely. In addition, you can block calls and keep people from bothering you.

Bottom Line

Design / UI9 It's impressive how developers managed to create a sleek interface, but packed with many features.	Function8 While the app may compromise security for a fast scan, it does come with a lot of other features, probably the most we've seen in an antivirus.	Security8 Considering its many features, the app doesn't let one area of your phone untouched. Still, it provides a satisfactory protection to your phone.
Battery9 Consumption is truly unnoticeable, the antivirus won't cause your battery to drain no matter how much time you spend in it.	Price9 Completely free of charge, but it does advertise some of the developer's other apps.	Compatibility8 The developer didn't mention Android versions compatible with this device, but it does work on 5.0.
