Anyone that has ever written any kind of text knows how important it is to have an interface that’s free of distractions, of way too many features and things that can drag your attention away from what’s important – whatever it is you’re writing.

While the options are quite expansive when it comes to desktop computers and laptops, things aren’t exactly the same when it comes to mobile devices. That’s why Writebox is a great solutions for those looking for an advanced tool that actually looks quite simplistic.

Focuses on what's important

The app has a clean interface that’s easy to navigate. The main focus is, of course, the text box. While it won’t cover the entire screen, leaving room for the upper OS bar and a thin ribbon giving you access to two important areas of the app and the title of the document you’re writing in, it’s still pretty clean.

You can type in quite easily by using the default keyboard that comes with iOS, but also any other that you have installed. Some symbols are available for fast typing, including the basic comma and full stop. There’s also an easy way to move back and forth between characters, for easier editing of typos, for instance.

There are two buttons at the top of the page. The left one leads you to the “Storage” tab. From here, you can access files in your Dropbox or Google Drive accounts, as well as any drafts you may have saved. The Settings area allows you to quickly and easily link the app to the two aforementioned cloud storage services.

Extra features

The right-side button gives access to more features. For instance, you can create a new document from this area, or save it. You can even preview to see how it looks, copy the entire text or discard it, or even export it to HTML. If you want, emailing is also possible.

To make things even nicer, you may even change the way it looks. You can alter the font type, size and color, as well as the background color. This allows you to put as much of your personality into the app as possible since it customizes the way it all looks.

All in all, this is a great app. Even if it gives the impression of a plain tool, without that many options, it actually offers plenty of customizing space and advanced features.
