Voice Text Generator 1.6
And there are those people who are simply uncomfortable using a keyboard for sending emails, writing essays, books even. For them, there’s Voice Text Generator developed by Leping Li and powered by Nuance.
Looks like Siri, works like Siri
Voice Text Generator borrows a little graphics from the original Siri UI, but it’s slightly different and primitive. It also displays ads frantically, trying to earn its developer some money. But the value in this app really makes you forgive everything that’s wrong with it.
Like Siri, the app listens to your voice, interprets it, and finally puts it into words. It’s not a search engine and it doesn’t do anything fancy, except convey your speech into text. Sometimes it will even pay attention to the words you hit harder, and sometimes it will miss a word or two. But generally its pretty darn accurate and it saves a lot of time.
It’s no stranger to strange characters and tongues
You can even speak punctuation marks out loud, such as comma, question mark, or exclamation point, and it will accurately place these where needed. It also understands things like “dollar sign,” numbers, and “plus” or “minus”. Best of all, it’s supported in a plurality of languages, including English, Chinese, Deutsch, Franaise, 한국어, 日本語, Русский, Portuguese, Italiano, Espaol and more.
The end result
The resulted text can easily be taken out of the app via email, social networks, or simple copy and paste into another app. It’s a real time saver, and best of all it’s completely free to use without any requirement to purchase additional functionality. Unfortunately, the app crashes from time to time making it very risky to entrust an essay or something important to it.

Bottom Line
Design / UI6
Voice Text Generator uses a primitive UI that borrows graphics from Apple’s Siri and even the sound effects. |
Function8
You can instantly convert anything you say into text in dozens of different languages and with great accuracy. No surprise there, since it’s powered by Nuance (the same engine that Siri uses). |
Security9
The built-in sharing functions let you easily get the text out of the app and onto social networks. Some risks are involved if you aren’t careful what you’re sharing and where. |
Battery9
No battery drainage issues here, unless of course you use it to write a 200-page novel. In which case, you should probably keep the phone plugged into its charger. |
Price8
Although the app and all its offerings are free of charge, we can’t give this one max score because it flashes too many ads and has a built-in app store. |
Compatibility7
Requires iOS 6.0 and doesn’t have an iPad-native version. |
You’ll never want to use a keyboard ever again.
