Google Play Music 2.1.391

Google Music Play brings your favorite music to your phone
Listening to music can be the most relaxing thing in the world. If you’re listening to your favorite bands and singers, things are even better.

Google Play Music is a service the Internet giant has put together to help deliver exactly the kind of music you like. When you set up an account, it asks you to pick a few genres you like, and even select artists that you’re a fan of so it can better customize the suggestions it gives you.

The iOS app comes with a pretty cool interface that’s extremely easy to navigate. You can view the recent activity on the front page and a few suggested radios based on your preferences. There’s also the option to use the “I’m feeling lucky radio” which randomizes the track listing based on your music taste.

Listen to your favorites

If you have any music already playing, you’ll notice a bar in the bottom area of the app with the name of the track, the artist, album cover, a pause button and, a very thin orange line for the progress. The bar can be dragged to the top to be expanded, revealing more music controls, buttons so you can like and dislike the song and other controls. For instance, you can add the track to your library or playlist, visit the artist or album, edit or clear the queue.

There’s also a button allowing you to see the full playlist you’re currently listening to. A cool feature is that instead of using the fast forward or backward buttons, you can just swipe your finger left and right on the screen to move to the next and previous songs. The same can be done to the minimized bar when you’re looking at other music you may want to add to your library or playlist.

More control

The app’s settings area enables you to control the streaming and downloading rules. For instance, you can have the app only stream tracks when the phone is connected to Wi-Fi so you can reduce carrier data charges. The same capabilities apply to downloading tracks to your phone for offline playing.

Overall, the Google Play Music app is a pretty great tool that gives you access to tens of millions of tracks and even the power to upload some 20,000 of your own songs from your personal music collection.
