Snapseed 1.6.4
And that’s how Snapseed ended up being Google’s domain, hence the new developer listing. But that’s really not important for the end user. What the user cares for is what the app brings.
High-caliber editing
Despite being a simplistic photo-editing mobile app, Snapseed provides a level of quality and clarity only seen in desktop solutions. An extremely intuitive UI is presented to the user, complete with a visual guide that takes them through the motions, from the first edits to the final retouching and ultimately saving the image to the phone’s memory, or sharing it online.
The editing process is easy, gradual, but also quite complex, if you were to break down all the components that come together to make an edit. For instance, you have the option to select a small portion of the image and perform individual edits (including filters, color adjustments, contrast) on that particular set of pixels, leaving the rest of the image intact.
Another example is the ability to enhance certain characteristics of a single filter, such as the scratches in a grunge effect, leaving the rest of the properties unchanged.
Simple layout, dozens of functions
On first glance, Snapseed may look like an overly simplistic image editing tool. Powerful image manipulation apps usually have knobs and sliders all over the place, but that’s not necessarily indicative of a high quality product.
Case in point, Snapseed only displays the editing tools when it’s necessary to do so. The UI just glides under your fingers, and any fine-tuning option you need is just a couple of taps away at any time.
Just to give you an idea of what Snapseed can do, the basic adjustments include auto correct, selective adjust (mentioned earlier), tune image, straighten & rotate, and crop. Creative adjustments include black & white, vintage films, drama, grunge, tilt shift, details, center focus, frames, and retrolux.
