Inspiration doesn’t always come easy, especially if you’re in the writing business. But sometimes, sifting through a few engrossing quotes can open new passageways you never even thought existed.
Form
Like most of TapMedia’s apps, Quotes doesn’t put a big emphasis on modern design. It’s certainly not ugly, but it uses skeuomorphic graphics in a day and age where this design direction has been declared obsolete. Some apps, however, go great with the leather notebook design. Since most of the quotes in this app are hundreds of years old, it’s actually appropriate to read them on a platform that doesn’t look too modern. In fact, you can even tweak the fonts to read them in handwritten text.
Normally we smear skeuomorphic design, but in this case it fits like a glove. Quotes can stay the way it is even through iOS 10. We incurred a visual glitch upon launching the app for the first time (rhe tabs at the bottom were doubled). Other things could be more polished as well.

Chances are you’ll never go through the whole lot. There are 20,000 quotes in total, but you can browse them by category, author or random (through the dice button). You’ll find a quote (or more than just one) from almost every illustrious mind that ever walked the earth, from Socrates and Albert Einstein, to Isaac Newton and Stephen Jobs. If you’re feeling some inspiration kick in, you can even add your own quotes to the list.
Here’s an idea. Save some by favoriting them and throw in your own quote under a fancy name like Edwin Maximilian Moore and have your friends read them out. See how they react to your riveting remark without knowing it was yours. You can also view the most recent quotes, view the author’s bio on Wikipedia, change font and text size, and CSV export the quotes that interest you the most.
All in all, it's a great app to find inspiration and comfort in. Some of the quotes in there will probably change your life. Don’t hesitate to get this one. It covers every important thing ever said in art, business, gender, history, technology, the Bible, courage, forgiveness, love, comedy, politics, wisdom, sports, etc.
