Keeping up with what’s going on around the world can be a difficult task, especially since we’re all so busy with living our regular lives that we often don’t have time to spend reading long articles. There are tools out there, however, who strive to at least give you a glimpse of various events in the world.

Quickne.ws is an app that aims to help you with this issue by delivering the day’s main front page headlines straight to your phone, accompanied, of course, by a strong image.

The app serves you with a few of these, split over a single screen. The more articles presented to you, the smaller the picture gets. The headline is pretty short and gives you only a glimpse into what you’re about to read if you tap on the screen. Of course, since there are only a handful of articles, you might actually have time to get through them all.

Once you decide on which story to read and you tap on it, the image will expand to cover the entire screen. Swiping up will reveal a really short description of what happened. If you decide you want to read more about it, you’ll have to access one of the links provided below, leading you to a few news articles published in massively popular newspapers, such as The Guardian or BBC News, to name a few.

To go back to the main menu, you’ll have to swipe down a couple of times, although you can move between one article and another that were published for a certain day by swiping left and right.

Not too much info

Unfortunately, unlike with other apps where you can go back until forever ago, looking for news articles, you can only go back a few days with this one. Also, there are only about three or four articles per day, which might irritate some people who feel they are not getting the full picture about what’s going on in the world.

The fact that you can’t actually read more than an introduction to the news and not the actual article is another annoyance for those looking for more than a teaser.

If you aren’t bothered by these things, however, then this is the perfect app for you – giving you a glimpse into the important issues happening in the world. Should you want more, you’re better off checking out other sites and apps for more topics and info.
