Quick 2.1.0
Quick has got to be one of the most original photography app’s we’ve tested around here. It also has a very appropriate name, because you’ll be doing your edits in seconds and the results will almost always be impressive.
A really smart GUI
We’re suckers for pretty apps around here, so whenever something like Quick comes along, we drool and adorn it with words of praise. But Quick isn’t just a pretty face. Oh no, it’s much more than that.
Besides being designed to look sharp and attractive, Quick also has a very clever navigation system. For instance, your whole focus is the photo taking business, but as soon as you’ve decided to make an edit, every option is hidden until you need it.
The display isn’t cluttered with filters, sliders and knobs. When you’re done cropping and choosing your caption, all you need to do is hit the up arrow and every option available instantly pops up.
Great for bragging, advertising, or just plain fun
Quick may not sound like much of a photography app, mainly because these days every camera utility comes with filters. Well, instead of filters, Quick comes with amazing typography. Why, you ask? Because its purpose is not to mess up your photos, but to turn them into something usable. Like an ad for selling something, a promotional material for your site or blog, a funny caption for a fail, your morning thoughts as you’re staring at your coffee, etc.
The fonts are really awesome and the color picker is simply one of the most amazing design gimmicks I’ve ever come across. Try it, I guarantee you’ll be impressed.
Sharing, IAP, iOS 8 support
The up arrow I mentioned earlier holds the sharing options - Twitter, Instagram, Messages, Mail, the usual suspects - as well as other options, such as saving the picture to your camera roll, returning to crop, importing a new image, or seeing more apps by Over. Hey, at least it doesn’t come with pesky ads.
As far as the full product is concerned, for $0.99 you get to remove the watermark (which is pretty big but not ugly), and gain some extra fonts.
In iOS 8, Apple has added support for extensions. Quick just so happens to take full advantage of this aspect. According to Over, you can “Conveniently add text to your photos from within the Photos app using the new extensibility technology in iOS 8.”

Bottom Line
Design / UI10
Brilliant design, truly original navigation and menus. |
Function10
An app that serves its purpose exactly as advertised, and then some. |
Security9
No problems unless you use the sharing options in a way that doesn’t benefit you. |
Battery8
Normal consumption levels for a photography app. |
Price10
Despite requiring an IAP for the full shebang to take effect, we feel that Quick is priced correctly and Over deserves to be compensated for such impeccable work. |
Compatibility8
Asks for iOS 7 but sadly doesn’t have an iPad version. |
It’s hard not to give this one the crown, despite some rather insignificant shortcomings.
