Taking pictures is great, but having some really nice drawings is even nicer. Of course, you don’t have to have the talent yourself, not when there are plenty of apps out there to help you out in a jiffy with very little effort from your part.

Pic2Comic is such an app that will turn your photographs into sketches, drawings and comics, depending on your mood. All you have to do is pick the one you want to play around with and fiddle with a handful of settings to make everything to your liking.

Pics or videos

As you launch the app, you’ll notice that you can take a picture and then process it with the app or pick one from the library. There’s also the option to record a video, but that one will immediately turn your surroundings into a cartoon. You can pick the presets you desire from a panel and just record the video directly in the cartoonish mode. Since the app doesn’t support editing videos, this is the best you’re going to get if you want to use the app for this purpose.

If you take a photograph, however, or use one that you already have in your library, things are different, however, as the app opens a whole world of possibilities for you.

In the first stage, you can choose to crop or rotate the picture. You can even adjust the saturation, brightness or contrast levels.

Then, you move on to the fun part – the one where you stylize the picture. You can select one of the available presets, such as one that focuses on the details, one that turns the picture into a comic or some better suited for portraits or landscapes.

Make your pictures look great

You’ll be able to control, with the help of a slider, how many colors the picture has, the level of color smoothing, the stroke width, sensitivity and the level of details, as well as of “blackness”.

The pictures can be furthered altered by pinching to squeeze or stretch the image, panning to morph the area and so on. These will help turn your drawing into more of a caricature, if you will.

This is a really nice app that gives you loads of control over how the end result looks like. You should give it a go the next time you feel like playing around for a bit.
