Most often than not, cooking a new recipe can be a bit difficult since you’re not used to how things should be done. While written instructions are great, having a bit of visual help can be even more useful.

Look & Cook is an app that wants to help you out exactly with this aspect. For all intents and purposes, this app will serve as your kitchen helper, offering you step-by-step instructions, as well as images and videos. Combined, these elements will help you cook great meals.

Interesting categories

There are, of course, also really great-looking recipes available. They’re divided over several categories. For instance, you’ll find dishes that are perfect for everyday cooking, but also some that are better for breakfast, barbecues, picnics, romantic dinners, dinner parties or for those nights spent with the guys. There’s also a category for all the vegans in your group of friends.

The entire app is in landscape mode and you’ll be able to check out recipes by scrolling them to the left and right. There aren’t all that many of them, but there are enough to keep you interested, especially since they sound like they’re fairly complicated to make.

Each recipe comes with three buttons – look, cook and tools. First, you’ll get to check out a picture featuring all the ingredients you’ll need and you’ll be able to see just how many servings the recipe will cover, how long the prep time will take and how much the dish needs to cook for. There are several pictures to get your appetite going.

The “Cook” area gives you access to the actual recipe. You’ll first get to read the ingredients list and the preparation steps. Then, the app lets you go through all the steps again, complete with pictures to show the procedure.

The tools area allows you to go through the kitchen tools that you needed for the recipe and you can even use the app to search for similar items over on Amazon.

Set the language and the unit system

The app’s settings area allows you to adjust two things – the language, where you can pick between English, French and Hebrew, and the units system, where you can pick between the imperial and the metric systems.

This is a nice app, but the number of recipes available is a bit low. That can easily be fixed, however, with more updates. Look & Cook is a pretty cool app that you should give a try if you want to experiment in the kitchen a bit.
