Kaspersky Safe Browser 1.5.1
Thankfully, however, developers from big companies are doing their best to protect people from various dangers, including phishing schemes and malware.
Protection while browsing
Kaspersky Safe Browser is one of those solutions that tries to keep you safe. Coming from one of the biggest security software developers, expectations are higher than they’d normally be with your regular run of the mill browser.
The app is marketed as a safe and reliable way to access Internet, offering protection against malicious and counterfeit websites. To make things even safer, the browser also offers more control about the type of content one can access while using it.
The settings area, for instance, enables users to choose what type of content categories to allow access to. Aside from the “phishing” and “malicious links” categories, which are blocked by default (and which cannot be bypassed), users can choose to disallow access to sites containing adult content, software, audio and video, alcohol, tobacco, narcotics, violence, weapons, profanity, gambling, lotteries, sweepstakes, Internet communication media, electronic commerce, recruitment, HTTP query redirection, computer games, religions, and news media.
More control
Depending on the types of contents you decide to block, the app will not allow you access to sites pertaining to that particular category. Of course, that won’t work for all sites, since it depends on their classification. For the most part, however, you won’t be able to access those sites you’re trying to avoid for whatever reasons.
The browser’s settings area further allows users to make some extra changes. For instance, you may pick a different search engine, although there are plenty that aren’t supported, including some that offer complete privacy, such as DuckDuckGo. Instead, you can pick between Google, Bing, Yandex and Yahoo.
The AutoFill feature can be turned on and off at any time and users can further decide whether links open in a new page or in the background.
All in all, Kaspersky Safe Browser seems to be a pretty secure solution to your everyday mobile browsing, although you do have to make sure you make your own personal adjustments if you want to avoid various types of content. For the basic issues, such as phishing and malware, the tool protects you by default, but you’ll have to take care of the rest.
