myNews 1.0.5
But Google Play Store is filled with all sorts of such apps, some focusing on offering users the tools for customizing the interface and picking the content they receive, while others aim at giving people access to all sorts of publications from around the world.
myNews is a nifty app that provides users with everything they need to stay informed.
Sleek interface with plenty of features at hand
The app doesn't come with any instructions, but sports an easy-to-use interface with all features at the tap of a button. There's a side-menu that offers access to the many areas of the app, including to settings. Before you can start enjoying the app, you must tweak settings to make it your own.
The app provides users with content from more than 5,000 newspapers from all around the world. Choose a default country to get articles from and have the app always translate content in your native language. You can also select which languages you don't wish to translate or have the app go to favorites when it starts up.
Read articles on various topics
You can change the country at all times using the side-menu. The app displays the top most popular newspapers in the country of your choice or you can filter them by city/state. There's also the option of selecting your favorite genre, including politics, sports, religion or technology blogs.
Simply tap on a newspaper to open the front page and real all the latest articles and the breaking news. You can favorite or share articles. Users can also translate articles or the entire content on a website, but they'll have to be patient as the app takes its time with that.
Also, one annoying thing about the app is that whenever you tap on the back button the app takes you to the home screen and not to the previous page.
Listen to all the popular podcasts on your phone
Users have the option of listening to various popular podcasts inside the app, simply choose from the list of popular ones provided in the specific section. However, the app doesn't display the time remaining and has trouble switching from one podcast to another.
It also has an archive with the latest articles you've read and a section with your favorite content. Users may also suggest a newspaper to be added to the list.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8
The interface seems pretty neat but it's non-responsive at times and it could use an upgrade. |
Function8
It works just fine, but it has some minor functionality bugs and it would need some more features. |
Security8
It doesn't need access to many areas of your phone, but users may connect with their Facebook accounts to share content easier. |
Battery4
Consumption is high even for a news reader app, so you should keep a charger nearby in case the app drains your resources. |
Price9
Completely free of charge but it comes with really annoying banner and popup ads. |
Compatibility8
The app should work just fine on devices running Android version 4.0 or later. |
It really needs some more work, but offers more content compared to many other apps.
