TheBlaze 1.2.1

Get access to interesting content with the official TheBlaze app for Android devices
Many news and entertainment networks have launched Android apps in order to bring content closer to their viewers and on their Android devices, so they can check information at all times.

TheBlaze is one of those networks that stays true to its viewers and that launched its very own app. It grants access to breaking news from TheBlaze.com and live and on demand video from TheBlaze TV, together with other features.

Sleek design and plenty of features at hand

The app doesn't come with a tutorial or any kind of instructions showing new users all the neat things that they can do inside the app. People can browse the app for free but if they wish to get access to further content, they'll need to subscribe to an account for 9.95$ per month or 99.95$ per year.

Without a subscription, you won't get access to videos of shows and many other sections inside the app. Still, the app has a side menu on the left with access to all sections inside and it provides you with plenty of settings under the overflow icon on the top right side of the screen.

Browse and watch all sort of shows

The app launches with the home screen, together with shortcuts to all sort of video news that you can access with a subscription. You can also check the schedule of upcoming shows and check out the information on each show. The all shows section is filled with a list of all videos that you can find inside the app and there's a shortcut in the toolbar for quickly accessing videos.

Read all sort of articles and listen to the radio

The app lets you browse through all sort of articles, divided by categories and topics. Simply tap on one to open, you'll get access to comments and the option of sharing articles online with friends. You can also enable notifications for when new articles are added or when a show starts on the radio or the TV.

The app gives you access to the radio station easily, simply by tapping on a section inside the side menu. A toolbar is also displayed in the notification bar and in the lock screen.

Still, you can't change the font size or save articles for offline reading. All in all, the app is quite limited unless you pay for a subscription in order to gain access to videos.

Bottom Line
Design / UI9

The interface is quite okay, with access to plenty of features at hand but not so many customization features or settings inside the app.

Function8

It's filled with access to all sort of official TheBlaze content, but it could sure use some more features.

Security8

It needs some permissions from your phone but it shouldn't pose any privacy issues.

Battery7

Consumption isn't that high, but you will see your battery drained if you're only using the app to watch videos and shows.

Price8

It's free but to gain access to all features, especially to shows and videos, you'll need to subscribe with an account.

Compatibility7

It should work on devices running Android version 4.0 or later, making it accessible to many users.

Editor's Review
VERY GOOD

It's a nice app but much of its content is locked.
