Splay 3.0
Splay is a great idea, a sort of launcher app that completely changes the appearance of your home screen and lets you rearrange your apps and icons on the phone. However, the app has some limitations and it could clearly need more work and more features to choose from.
Sleek interface but it needs some improvements
An intuitive interface is a must for any app, but some of them need instructions or tips for new users to navigate inside the app easier. Unlike many apps, Splay lacks a tutorial or any sort of explanations, it also doesn't come with a help section, but offers users the option of sending feedbacks to developers.
Some settings can be made to the app, users may select a custom image for the apps wallpaper and choose their default email client, so that sending emails would be done faster. Splay is a great idea for an app but the execution is rather poor.
Change the whole appearance of your screen
The app has shortcuts to four distinct categories of apps on your device, phone, diary, media and apps. Long press on one to open subcategories, each section has a different number of options. The phone section is filled with shortcuts to your contacts, it displays your favorite contacts and a list of all phone numbers saved on your device.
It also displays your call log and missed calls. You can shift through profiles and turn your phone on vibrate using the app. The diary section offers access to messages, to your file manager and calendar entries, you can also use it read and send emails. The media section is filled with shortcuts to your camera, gallery and GPS.
Some limitations and shortcomings
Splay arranges apps on your device, by letting you create 7 shortcuts to the ones that you use the most and opens an app drawer, but it takes its time while doing so. The app makes good use of animation, but it does have some issues. It fails to open messages on certain devices, as well as the menu for writing a new text message.
In addition to that, the interface makes it difficult to open sections and select items as it needs users to keep pressing the screen and glide their finger to open subsections. Also, the app looks and behaves like a launcher yet it is not one, it should have a floating icon as a home screen shortcut.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8
The interface is really nice and the app makes good use of animation, however it could use an option to adjust background transparency and add images. |
Function8
It has its flaws, but the most confusing thing about it is the fact that it cannot be set as a launcher although it has all the attributes to be one. |
Security8
It needs access to a lot of areas of your phone, most of them are connected to its features. |
Battery7
Consumption is a bit high for such an app, it won't drain your battery but it's best if you keep an eye on resources. |
Price10
It's completely free of charge, no ads or in-app purchases whatsoever. |
Compatibility7
It needs at least Android version 4.0 to work, making it inaccessible to many users. |
Confusing and difficult to navigate in it, but a great idea nonetheless.
