Sleek interface that makes it easy to stay on top of the news
An intuitive interface is a must for any news reader app as it helps you scroll through articles faster, without getting confused with the multitude of available tools and features. Mashable app doesn't come with instructions, but the UI is easy-to-use so you wouldn't really need them.
A side menu provides you with access to all the nice topics inside the app, like social media, tech, business, entertainment and lifestyle. Watercooler is a mix of entertaining articles that you can share easily with friends on social networks.
Get notifications and read the news that have almost went viral
Mashable is a good sources of articles, you can use the app to read viral reports and news, as it informs you of articles that have become extremely popular on the internet. It has three categories, hot, rising and new, you'll find there all the latest stories that are heavily shared on the internet.
Tap on one to read, the app gives you access to the next story simply by scrolling down. It displays the number of shares and you can post comments by sliding the screen left and typing in text. Comments can also be sorted by the newest, oldest and top. One of the app's shortcomings is that it doesn't include subcategories for the main sections, similar to what you find on the website.
Some shortcomings
The app lets you manage notifications and receive alerts for when a story is about to go viral. You can also connect your Facebook or Twitter accounts and share articles faster. Still, the app includes some bugs like the one in the comments section.
Scrolling is made difficult and the app automatically displays the top of the page whenever you wish to scroll down. Other than that, it's missing a night view and the option of changing the font size or style.
